Projects

So, because Hubby landed dream job, this keeps us in the outskirts of London a while longer. We have considered moving house, but to be honest there are no houses with a situation as ideal as ours within a price range that we could afford. I know that my parents are of the view that you save enough capital to be able to afford a bigger mortgage, but at the moment, all our savings are going into our business venture - or at least, they will be if we can get our key suppliers on board (Kathryn, point duly noted and we are not giving up, just determined to try harder).

The reason we wanted to move house was to get more space, but also gain a few things on our wish list such as a working fireplace and dining room etc.

Now, there are some things we can't do - our house is not extendable any further than it has been already, but we can move some things around to have a bit of a change.

So - the main two rooms that we want to tackle and change? The study and the sitting room. Both of which we have made do with for nearly 5 years.

With the sitting room, we want to move the furniture around to enable us to have more bookcases and to open up the fireplace - this will require significant investment as we'll have to buy a wall mounted flat screen t.v. as well to free up the corner where the t.v. currently sits.

So - current layout:

And what we think it could look like, providing the measurements pan out:

In the study it would be a complete overhaul. When we moved in it was a teen princess' bedroom, pink carpet and pink walls. So we put down laminate flooring, painted it neutrally with a dark red feature wall, and fitted shelves. It's nice enough, but it has become a bit of a dumping ground for everything that doesn't have a home anywhere else.

So - get rid of all the shelves and put in two fitted cupboards - I'd like nice glossy white ones, but we shall see.

Get rid of the laminate flooring and put down nice dark walnut flooring throughout (and do it properly, not our amateur DIY attempt!).

Get rid of the Ikea daybed with its plenty of storage, and pull out to a double facility (I think we've only used it twice!), and replace it with a large desk under the window, with filing cabinets for all our personal files and all our business paperwork.

It should look very smart indeed.

In other news (if you're still with me!), I lost 2lb last night at my official weigh in. Which is my first 7lb since I restarted this post Christmas. Hurrah. The game is on. I have 7 weeks roughly til our holiday, so want to lose another 7lb by then. Bring it.

You can totally lose 7lbs in 7 weeks - maybe even more. Cheering for you.

Good luck with the projects. I'm thinking about moving, but the hassle involved is putting me off.
You'll have no problem with the weight loss. I need to get back on track next week. This week passed in a blur of potato chips....
